Children 6 to 11 Years: APO METFORMIN ODT is intended for use only in children 6 to 11 years of age. In an oral rat teratology study, early resorptions and increased numbers of nonviable fetuses were observed at a dose of 18 mg/kg/day (9 times the maximum recommended human daily oral dose on a mg/m? basis). Before using Actonel, tell your doctor if you also use aspirin or other NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) such as celecoxib (Celebrex), diclofenac (Voltaren), diflunisal (Dolobid), ibuprofen (Motrin, Advil), indomethacin, ketoprofen (Orudis), apo metformin (Toradol), naproxen (Aleve, Naprosyn), piroxicam (Feldene), and others. However, the duration of exposure associated with increased risk is not consistent across all epidemiologic studies and some report no association. Measurement of baseline and periodic serum bicarbonate during apo metformin treatment is recommended. Tell your doctor if you do not lose at least 4 pounds after taking the medication for 4 weeks along with a low calorie diet. Concomitant administration of either cimetidine or apo metformin results in approximately 24% and 35% reduction in the levofloxacin renal clearance, respectively, indicating that secretion of levofloxacin occurs in the renal proximal tubule. After multiple daily dosing, increased gastric pH was seen within the first hour post-dosing with 30 mg of lansoprazole and within 1-2 hours post-dosing with 15 mg of lansoprazole. As is true with many other types of medication when taken concurrently by patients with diabetes, insulin and/or oral hypoglycemic, dosage may need to be adjusted when therapy with APO METFORMIN is instituted or discontinued. Women who permanently discontinued treatment due to hyperplasia were similar in demographics to the overall study population. Although the extent of apo metformin absorption (as measured by AUC) from the GLUCOPHAGE XR tablet increased by approximately 50% when given with food, there was no effect of food on Cmax and Tmax of apo metformin. The size of the effect was related to baseline frequency, with greater reductions seen in patients with higher baseline frequencies. Dose reductions or discontinuation of apo metformin should be considered in patients with decreased food or fluid intake and in patients with excessive somnolence (See DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION).
